First Gin to come from Stockport is launched at the Town Hall
Last Friday, 22nd March 2019, saw the official launch of a new small batch craft gin brand based in Stockport - Stockport Gin. Made by husband and wife team Paul and Cheryl Sharrocks at their home distillery in the village of Compstall, on the doorstep of Etherow Country Park, this is the first gin to come from Stockport.
The couple sponsored the Gin Jamboree held at Stockport Town Hall where, as part of the sponsorship, all guests were provided with a Gin and Tonic using Stockport Gin's perfect serve included in the entrance fee.
Paul, 34, "What was different about this event to other Gin Festivals was that everyone who attended the event got to try our gin. It was a great way for us to launch and target such a large amount of people all on the same night."
The event was attended by over 250 people including the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, Councillor Walter Brett and his wife Maureen. The Mayor commented that with the recent rise in the number of new food and drink establishments in the town, the creation of Stockport's first in was positive for the town and wished the couple great success. He praised the couple on their use of the iconic Stockport Viaduct in the branding of the product and at the end of the night even bought a bottle to take home!
Cheryl, 38, "The event was a huge success, we got the chance to chat to lots of people there about what we do and the feedback we got from them was amazing which makes everything we do worthwhile."
Following the event, the couple launched their official website and online store on Saturday night and have already finished the production of the second batch to keep up with demand.
Over the next few weeks, Stockport Gin will not only be available to buy online but in local stockists, local pubs, bars and restaurants.
